Submission Rules and Information
About the Festival
The Sprout Film Festival (SFF) is programmed and supported by Sprout.
The 7th annual SFF scheduled for Spring 2009, will present a selection
of features and shorts in all genres at a New York City venue.
People with developmental disabilities as subjects and performers
remain marginalized in film and television. This festival aims to
raise their profile and showcase the work of this population. By
presenting films of artistry, intellect and innovative styles, the
SFF hopes to reinforce accurate portrayals of people with developmental
disabilities, provide incentive for those in the media to cover
these subjects, and expose viewers to important issues related to
the field. The goal is an enjoyable and enlightening experience
that will help break down stereotypes, promoting a greater acceptance
of differences and awareness of similarities.
Program
· All lengths and genres are accepted.
· There is no restriction as to when the
film or video was made.
· Each film must be submitted separately
and must include the following:

(NTSC or PAL), mini DV (NTSC), or DVD (NTSC) labeled with the title,
director's name, running time, and contact number. We cannot accept
film prints or any other screening format for the selection process.

· Submission of work indicates permission
for the SFF to assemble selected works to be exhibited as part of
the Sprout Touring Film Festival.
· Submission of work also indicates that
the festival/touring festival may employ moving images and stills
from selected works for promotion via print and broadcast outlet,
the internet and other usual means.
· The festival does not pay rental / screener
fees to filmmakers. We use all our financial resources in producing
the best possible showcase for your work, and promoting your work
as widely as possible.
· Foreign language work must be dubbed or
subtitled in English.
· Cost of shipping exhibition prints to
the festival is the responsibility of the entrant.
· The festival cannot accept responsibility
for damage or loss of materials while in transit.
· We only accept exhibition prints in NTSC
format.
· Please use only plastic or bubble pack
cases when shipping entries.
· We will not consider projects in which
an actor without developmental disabilities portrays a person with
developmental disabilities.
Entries and materials will not be returned. Please mail the above

Deadlines
and Fees Film submission deadline for all genres: December

$15 entry fee for films under 30 minutes.
$25 entry fee for films over 30 minutes.
If you submitted a film to a past Sprout Film Festival, we will
waive the fee for new submissions.

Selection
The festival programming committee will select and invite films at their discretion. Everyone
who submits a film or video will be contacted via email, regular mail, or telephone by January
7, 2009.

Addendum:
Submission tapes and dvds will not be returned and will become property
of the SFF. By signing this form you are giving permission for your
film to be available for the SFF and the touring SFF. I have read
and understand the submission guidelines of the Sprout Film Festival.
All statements in this document are true. I certify that I have
cleared all rights for this film and understand that no officers,
employees, or agents of the Sprout Film Festival can be held liable
for the contents of or damage to the film.
