Ayse goes everywhere with her parents and has done so from an early age. She speaks fluent Dutch and Turkish, but she can't read or write. She can however compose poetry.

The main protagonist Ayse has a Turkish background but her story is relevant in a broader context. The film shows how she has become what she is now. What’s it like to grow up with a limitation? And what’s it like for the the people around her?
