In 1990, a group of 12 young adults with developmental disabilities journeys to Africa in an attempt to scale Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest peak. The group deals openly with physical and psychological limitations, and encounters additional obstacles presented by weather and altitude. Finally, on the eve of their final ascent to the summit, a heart-breaking decision has to be made, and we observe how these extraordinary individuals deal with triumph and tragedy.
